Interim CFO also Appointed
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IRIDEX Corporation (Nasdaq: IRIX) announced that it has appointed Gary Seeger as its new Vice President of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Seeger, a former Vice President of Quality Assurance (QA) and Regulatory Affairs at Stellartech Research Corporation, has more than 35 years of experience in pharmaceutical and medical device Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, and has worked with the FDA on both 510(k) clearances and PMA approvals.
"Gary's extensive QA background and regulatory experience working with the FDA will help us further strengthen our quality system compliance and determine strategic regulatory pathways for new product clearances and approvals as we continue to expand our product portfolio," said Barry G. Gary has significant expertise in 510(k) clearances and CE Mark approvals, particularly with therapeutic energy delivery devices. His experience in the transfer of products from design to manufacturing will bring expertise to our new product introduction process and the manufacturing transfer of the acquired Laserscope products. He will be an experienced mentor for our quality team and a great addition to our executive management team."
Mr. Seeger joins IRIDEX from Stellartech Research Corporation, where he spent the last 12 years as the Vice President of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Prior to joining Stellartech in 1995, he served as Vice President of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at Synvasive Technology, a reconstructive surgery instrument manufacturer. Mr. Seeger had previously worked for several other leading medical device companies, including Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Laboratories, McGaw Laboratories and Barnes-Hind. Mr. Seeger holds a B.S. in Physics from Harvey Mudd College and an MBA from UCLA.
In addition, IRIDEX reported today that it has engaged the Financial Leadership Group, LLC to provide assistance with the preparation of its financial statements until a replacement Chief Financial Officer is appointed. Mr. James Pardee will join the Company in the role of Interim Chief Financial Officer. Meryl Rains, who resigned, as the Company's Chief Financial Officer effective July 20, has become a consultant to IRIDEX. A search has been initiated to select a new Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Pardee and Ms. Rains will assist the Company in that process.
